Boho garden party decorations

I know that it’s not the perfect time for partying but we will do have our lives back on day – hopefully – in the very near future and we can organize our perfect boho garden party. When we do that, of course, we need some cool decorations too. 

What do we need for an awesome garden party? Let’s check the list! The top 10 secret ingredients that are a must of every boho garden party.

1. Garden ✅

First of all, we need a garden but, of course, you can have a cool party in your backyard, on your patio, on the beach or even in the park. It doesn’t have to be a huge space, just enough for you and your friends.

The perfect location can be the beach, it’s so romantic and bohemian having a cool beach/garden party by the seaside. I can also imagine a beautiful garden with grass where you can spend a boho evening and enjoy your friends’ company (sigh…) You just miss your friends, don’t you?

2. Table ✅

Second, you need a long table where you can eat. You don’t need a “proper” dinner table to serve your delicious lunch/dinner. I saw it on Instagram and on Pinterest (where else) to make a funky, long table from some pallets. All you need a couple of colourful – or white if you are a lover of the Scandi boho style – tablecloths to cover the pallets or your table. Pallet tables are more authentic and when you sit down next to them you feel closer to Earth.

3. Pillows ✅

Let’s not forget about the pillows to sit on. You can use chairs around your boho table but I just usually use pillows to sit on. Especially if you make your table from pallets, they won’t be that tall so you can use some boho pillows to make you more comfortable. If you have some Moroccan poufs, you can bring them out. 

You can’t really imagine anything bohemian without pillows anyway, they are just part of our lifestyle. We can’t live without them.

4. Plates and cutlery ✅

You need, of course, some plates and cutlery on your boho garden party table.  Forget about your grandma’s china set, you can just use some funky, eclectic plates and mix and match cutlery. The more eclectic, the better. The same applies to glasses, don’t use your precious crystal glasses, just grab the ordinary glasses. Your guests will enjoy their drink anyway. But do forget about plastic cups and plates, they have no boho vibes at all and not environmental friendly at all. 

5. Candles and fairy lights ✅

One of the most important parts of your boho garden party decoration is the candles and fairy lights. You just need those relaxing and ambient vibes that light can bring into our lives. You can use pretty Moroccan lamps with candles or different type of candle holders for the more decadent atmosphere. I usually have a bag of small coffee table candles and they work just fine.

6. Boho rugs ✅

You can always glam up your boho garden party with some cool bohemian rugs. You can place them under the table or around your pallet table. It’s up to you. One thing is fur sure they will make everything cosier and comfier. The colourful the better (plus if some food ends up on it, it’s easier to clean it than from a white or creme coloured rug.

7. Flowers ✅

To be honest I can’t imagine the perfect bohemian garden party and table without some pretty flowers. If you can, you can always collect wildflowers and decorate your table with it. You can use basically any kind of flowers you want, just put them in a vase and if you don’t have a vase then use bigger (or smaller) jars. It gives a bit of a vintage look to use those cool little jars on the table. 

8. Dreamcatchers and lanterns ✅

I saw some great ideas on Pinterest on how to decorate your garden and trees around your dinner table. If you have some dreamcatchers, smaller or bigger ones, you can always hang them on trees and larger bushes. They look absolutely amazing and make your garden a boho haven.  

Another good idea is to hang some cool and colourful lanterns in a few of the trees, just to make it even more festive. Paper lanterns are not really expensive and you don’t have to throw them away after your party but you can use them in your garden on those hygge summer evenings.

9. Cloth napkins ✅

Just to be more eco-friendly why not to use cloth napkins instead of paper ones. There are plenty of beautiful designs and patterns you can choose from, they look beautiful and you don’t have to throw them away just wash them after the party. You remember the three magic words: Reuse, Recycle, Reduce!

10. Boho and relaxing music ✅

I don’t know about you but I really love music. You can’t have a garden party without music.  I can’t imagine it, can you? It’s not part of the decoration but you just need it. I’m not talking about loud music but the one you can talk to your friends while listening to it. Something nice and easy listening on a lower volume while you can still enjoy each other’s company and talk.

If you have these 10 secret ingredients you can surely organize a beautiful bohemian garden party for your friends and family. They will definitely enjoy it. These amazing candle-lit dinners can be part of those important small things and moments in life. Those things and moments that count and you will remember.
