I’m a mama of an 8-year-old big boy so unfortunately nursery time is over but I’m still a big fan of pretty boho nursery decor. In 2011 when I found out that we are expecting a baby it was a bit of a shock for us. Don’t get me wrong we were really happy with my husband but we have just started our new Mediterranean life in Cyprus. And bam … a new life, new baby. It was very overwhelming.
Because he was our first (and only) child I didn’t want to go through my pregnancy without my family. I’m an only child too, no brothers or sisters, neither friends in our new country, Cyprus. So we made up our mind and when I was 4 months pregnant we moved back to my hometown. Of course, we haven’t given up our new Mediterranean life entirely. Left our stuff in storage because our plan was coming back to this beautiful island.
I gave birth to our baby boy in May 2012 in my home country, Hungary then in October 2012 we moved back to Cyprus just before he turned 6 months old. I was really happy that my family supported me during my pregnancy because it wasn’t an easy ride.
I had pre-eclampsia and HELLP-syndrome. Thanks to my great doctor we both survived but it was a close call. Because we lived with my parents my son didn’t have THE perfect nursery back then. I just decorated one little corner of our bedroom but he arrived in a safe place surrounded by a caring family. I think that’s the most important thing.
When we moved back to Cyprus we had to rent a place and it wasn’t the perfect choice but no other options. No real nursery there either. So to be honest I missed out on the “proper” nursery a bit. No fancy baby furniture, only a nice, plain white IKEA one. Which, by the way, was perfect for him.
I bought many things second-hand in Cyprus and it was a good idea. When you have a baby they just use things for a short time. They grow and change so quickly so it was no point in investing very expensive baby stuff. Of course, we had all the essentials but didn’t splurge on fancy stuff.
So this was the story of my non-existent nursery but I still love cute nurseries and I’m a bit sad that my son didn’t have the perfect one but it doesn’t matter now, does it?
Having said that let’s check out some incredibly cute boho nurseries. I love them all, I’m sure you will like them too.

Becky’s nursery from the UK
Another pretty nursery that I adore. Her jungle team beautiful nursery is so perfect. I especially love the wallpaper (I’m a big fan of pretty wallpapers anyway), the little crib is also adorable. And guess what, Becky – aka @21oakham – has chosen to decorate her home and the nursery affordably. It doesn’t have to cost a fortune to create something magical.

Although Amber’s – aka @my.little.cutie.pies – son is not a baby anymore his ex-nursery/kid’s room is so adorable. I fell in love with his little cot/boho bedding with the gorgeous fitted sheet. The painted palm tree and sun wall art on the wall, oh my. Perfection!

Terra’s nursery in the US

Kayla’s nursery in the US
Kayla’s – aka @nursejerseymama – nursery is another perfect example of boho nurseries. You just feel the calming, relaxing boho vibes. That’s what a baby and mamma need. To be honest with you I’ve never seen a changing basket before but it’s much more practical than a changing table with a changing mat.
It looks gorgeous plus it doesn’t take up so much space either. We had a huge changing table and once your baby is too big and heavy to lift there, it becomes a useless piece of furniture. While you can still use, upcycle your changing basket.

Stephanie’s nursery
Stephanie’s – @stephanieallen_27 – beautiful nursery is more Scandinavian boho and boho-chic style and it was love at first sight. It’s a gender-neutral nursery. My absolute favourite features are the lamp, the boho ABC rug, the shelf, the cosy boho corner.

Conclusion:
Whatever boho nursery style you choose, the most important thing is to create a calming, relaxing and safe environment for your precious baby.
As Vincent Van Gogh once wrote:
I think that I see something deeper, more infinite, more eternal than the ocean in the expression of the eyes of a baby when it wakes in the morning and coos or laughs because it sees the sun shining on its cradle.
