Who doesn’t like to travel? Unfortunately, this year might be trickier to travel anywhere but you can, of course, plan ahead. Hopefully next year we can travel more. Let’s check out together the most amazing bohemian travel destinations on the planet. Obviously, my favourite boho holiday destination is Marrakesh but, of course, there are plenty of beautiful places you can visit in the world.
1. Ibiza – Balearic Islands
I would like to start our bohemian world trip on the beautiful island of Ibiza which belongs to the Balearic Islands in Spain. Let’s not talk about the typical party resort-style destinations but the more chilled Northern Ibiza which belongs to the bohemian souls and full of hippie markets, secret beaches, amazing sunsets and chilled vibes in general.
There are places in Ibiza that are so much quieter than the party places – don’t get me wrong if you like to party you should definitely visit these places – but if you are a boho soul like me then don’t choose the party resorts but head to North where you find beauty in nature and more relaxed atmosphere too.
The famous hippie town of Ibiza was San Carlos where there were many hippies in the ’60s and ‘70s. Although times have changed, you will still feel the hippie vibes. The famous hippie market of Las Dalias is not far away from San Carlos.

2. Marrakesh – Morocco
As you probably know by now my favourite city in the world is naturally Marrakesh in Morocco. Although I spent only a couple of days there, it is always going to be my all-time favourite place.
I don’t know what about you but when I was in Marrakesh it felt like I’m on time-travel. I was flying to Marrakesh from Dublin via Madrid (they didn’t have any direct flights back then) and it was a huge culture shock for me when I arrived at this very unique and beautiful city.
It’s modern and ancient at the same time, the smells, the colours, the narrow streets of the Medina, the Souk – it’s just magical. A place where you can end up in a Vogue photoshoot (was walking around and literally walked into one) but old men riding on a donkey carrying fruits and vegetables is a usual sight too.

3. Alentejo – Portugal
Thanks to one of my Insta friends – Jane – aka @bohodreamhouse and @aurobelleibiza – I discovered the beautiful region of Alentejo in Portugal. Her gorgeous boho retreat is not far away from the stunning Santa Clara Lake and a small traditional Portuguese village.
It’s a place where everyone should just slow down and enjoy the moment and nature. You can completely switch off, no mobiles, please!
You can take a trip and visit the wild beaches of South Algarve or go hiking in the Southwest Alentejo and Vicentine Coast Natural Park. Visit Jane’s beautiful boho house the Casinha Maurice, where nothing or everything happens.

4. Goa – India
Goa is, of course, another amazing bohemian travel destination. It may not a hippie and boho paradise as has been before, but Goa still attracts the like-minded, free spirits. It became a bit of a fashionable travel destination with influencers and so on but you can still feel the bohemian vibe here.
Fortunately, there is still a spiritual side of life here with meditation, yoga and Buddhism. You can get connected with your inner self and get away from the rat race. One thing is for sure, you will fall in love with this magical island and you just don’t want to leave it.
5. Kaui – Hawaii
The small island of Kaui or as they call it “the Garden Island”. It’s a kind of eco-paradise where there are big resorts but fortunately, you can still feel the boho vibe.
Thanks to the island which keeps an eye of environmental issues, they banned the plastic bags and they protect Kaui from overdevelopment too.
There are plenty of yoga retreats you can choose from where you can meet like-minded, chilled, slow life-loving eco-travellers.
As you can see this top 5 list will help you to choose your perfect bohemian travel destination. There are so many beautiful places in the world and it can become your bohemian piece of paradise.
Many moons ago I and my husband went on a holiday on the beautiful island of Mallorca. It also belongs to the Balearic Islands, just like Ibiza. I have to emphasize that this was before our son was born so our life was – how should I put it – calmer. (Don’t get me wrong I love my son from the bottom of my heart but sometimes he can be a handful.)
So back to Mallorca, we rented a gorgeous, rustic finca in Port Andratx and we spent 10 days there. The best 10 days of my life, breakfast in the garden. Beautiful, lush Mediterranean plants plus the remains of an old olive press in the garden. It was such an amazing place. I fell in love with the Mediterranean life and slower lifestyle there and then.
This year, because of the virus, we are not really going anywhere plus we are living on a holiday island – in Cyprus – without holidaymakers. It’s just so nice to go to the beach in the afternoon when the weather is not too hot and enjoying beach life, watching my son using his bodyboard or playing in the sea or going for a nice swim or listening to my favourite music while watching the sunset.
Unfortunately, Cyprus isn’t a boho haven or travel destination like Ibiza, Mallorca or Goa but if you are looking for, you can still find the secluded beaches (no tourists there), the boho hideaways. I wish it was a more relaxed place in the summer.
Conclusion:
We can all find our peace of boho place, no matter where we are. The good thing is that you don’t even have to travel anywhere to find your boho oasis. Maybe it was in front of your eyes the whole time. We have to appreciate the little things in because life is too short.
Thank you for the awesome photos:
