There is nothing better than sitting outside on a summer evening in your amazing boho garden. Candles, fairy lights, comfortable chairs listening to some chilled music while watching the stars in the sky. Can you imagine this picture? I definitely can. This is boho garden decor about. The hygge vibes, the cosy feeling when you feel absolutely relaxed. Taking it slow and enjoying the moment.
It’s actually not that complicated to create a beautiful bohemian garden where you feel awesome. You don’t even have to spend a fortune to create something amazing. There are a couple of essential boho decor items that you will need but they don’t have to be expensive and luxurious as long as you like it. Choose the thrifty way but create a magical place where you can chill out. That’s all matters.
Boho garden furniture
I know that garden furniture can be expensive but you don’t have to go for the priciest set. Why not being eclectic and find some old garden furniture that you can do up. Just a couple of chairs and a table. You don’t need much but sandpaper and some paint. Voilá! You have your gorgeous boho garden furniture.
Choose the colour that you like. I personally love the weathered or vintage look. It’s my favourite. But, of course, you can choose bright and bold colours. Just follow your taste! Life is so boring without colours. Let’s be crazy and unleash your inner artist!
You can ask your friends whether they have some old chairs or tables they don’t want anymore and Google is your good friend too. I found plenty of old furniture on Facebook. Be thrifty and try to find a cheaper option. Don’t forget the proverb:
One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.
One of my favourite boho garden decor belongs to my dear Instagram friend, Yvonne aka @sixat21, who lives in Ireland has an absolutely gorgeous bohemian, eclectic garden. She is a very talented upcycler and savage hunter who finds the real treasure and makes wonder with them.
Just check out Yvonne’s great upcycling and restoration projects. She is the best. My favourite is her she-shed which is absolutely awesome. I think all mamas need a she-shed (see the picture below) where they can just chill out, do some craft, read, paint, draw – far from the rest of the family. 🙂

Boho outdoor rug
Let’s not forget about boho garden rugs. You just need one because it gives your boho haven a bit of extra touch. Any kind of interior or exterior becomes cosier, comfier, more hygge when you use rugs. A small one, a big one, it’s your call. Depending on the size of your boho outdoor space, choose the right size.
And no, don’t go for the most expensive rugs. I do have rugs that I would never use outside (not my beautiful, colourful Merino handwoven rug from Portugal, no way). Discover your thrift store (or as we call them charity shop in Europe). They always have rugs that can be perfect for your little bohemian outdoor haven.
It doesn’t matter if it has a distressed or worn look, the older, the better. You can always zhuzh it up a bit and it doesn’t cost a fortune either. There are, of course, a different type of rugs you can use. I think the most popular rugs are the bamboo rugs that come in different shapes and sizes. Go for what suit you best. A small rug can make a huge difference.
Just have a look at Lisa’s aka @lisa_loves_vinatge boho garden, it’s so gorgeous. Who doesn’t want to sit outside and enjoy a beautiful summer evening there? Check out her pretty boho rugs too!

Throw pillows and blankets
Throw pillows make your boho garden space cosier and much more comfortable. And once again, they don’t have to be the most expensive, designer pillows. Oh no, just choose some nice pillows that you can use outside.
Ask your friends around whether they have some old pillows that they would like to get “rid of” and you can easily give them a facelift with a new cover or visit your thrift store. I love charity shops because you can always find treasures there. There are always some pillows that you can use as throw pillows in your little bohemian oasis.
You know the secret word: just zhuzh it up and you are ready to go. If you like Moroccan style then you should definitely use some throw pillows, I just can’t imagine an outdoor space without them.
Oh yes, don’t forget about those blankets either because they can come handy on cooler summer or autumn evenings. Not in Cyprus, where I live. We always have hot and humid nights in the summer, probably we can use them at the end of October or in November. I’m sure you have some blankets you can use outside and they are not too precious.
And again, you can always look for bargains online or visit your local thrift store to find some cheaper blankets. It’s such a nice feeling just curl up in your comfy chair in front of the fire and listening to some music or have a glass of vino.
One of my favourite Instagram accounts belongs to Biche aka @zebodeko from France. She is an awesome lady with a beautiful garden and amazing boho style. Just have a look at her boho garden oasis with pillows, rugs, 100% comfy vibes.

Fairy lights, candles, Moroccan lamps
There’s an endless option when you have to choose the perfect lighting in your boho garden space. Who doesn’t like fairy light, it’s so pretty and makes everything much cosier. It just has that hygge factor that brings chilled vibes.
I don’t know what about you but I love candles, the small ones, the big ones, you name it. There are plenty of types of candles you can buy but you should go for the healthier ones. Soy wax candles are brilliant and they are environmentally friendly too.
You know that by now that Morocco, Marrakesh is close to my heart. So I can’t imagine boho garden decor without Moroccan lamps. They have some mystical and magical vibes that bring you to Morocco. Whenever I light them, I fly back in time and I remember our amazing (but unfortunately short) holiday in Marrakesh.
Lighting is all about creating a safe and comfy environment. You can, of course, light a fire too in your fire pit. Make those campfire s’mores and enjoy them. The fire was always a holy and spiritual symbol in our lives. It brings us warmth and protects us too. So, let’s light it!
Check out Curious Candles Studios aka @curiouscandlesstudios amazing eco-friendly soy candles. They are amazing.

Conclusion:
Use your imagination and don’t spend too much money. There’s always a thrifty way to create your perfect boho garden decor, your little bohemian oasis. If you don’t have a garden, that’s ok too. Just use your balcony or patio, to create an ambient place where you can chill out, take it slow, enjoy the sweet little moments of life.
