Courtney, the queen of colourful, whimsical and eclectic style

Courtney Wafzig, aka @zigandcompany, is definitely the queen of colourful and eclectic style. She has been married for 23 years to Aaron, who makes all her designs come to fruition.  He is the workforce behind Zig & Co. Courtney is the creative force:). They have 4 children ages 16, 14, 9, and 5, plus 2 dogs, Ziggy and Rosie.  She was born and raised in Louisville, KY, where she still resides today.

Courtney: My first design project in this home was the kitchen.  When we purchased our house, it had been vacant for 2 years.  Our kitchen is in the centre of the house, literally and figuratively.  So, It was the first room to get a makeover.

Courtney: That is a hard one. There are so many inspiring designers. I love @markdsikes_interiors, @edithanneduncan,  @elizabethhaydesign and @alisonkandler_interiordesign.

Just to name a few, but there are so many great designers out there.

Courtney: Flowers, nature, art, many things. I think most of my inspiration comes from nature and the colours of the outdoors.

Courtney: My most favourite part of my home is the room we just completed for the One Room Challenge on Instagram.  It is our back sunroom and serves as a family and dining room.  It’s open, bright and cheerful.

Courtney: Hmm… Colourful chaos?  LOL.  I guess I would say a mix of traditional, eclectic with a splash of whimsy.

How does your family relate to your passion for design? Do they support it?

Courtney: My family, especially my husband, fully supports all my designs. I could say I wanted to paint the whole house pink, and he would say what shade? (The kids are just used to the ever-changing house).

 

Courtney: I still do. I love a karate chopped pillow.  I know it’s no longer in style, or so I’ve been told.  But it’s the way I like to see all my pillows. Chopped in the centre.

Courtney: My favourite colour I could not do without would be green. It’s neutral in my book. It goes with every colour.
