Living rooms are the most important part of your boho home. It is the place where you entertain your guests and you spend most of the time with your loved ones. It should definitely reflect your style and it should be a place where you love to spend time.
When it comes to bohemian decor the living room is the best place to create the perfect boho haven. I have plenty of Instagram friends whose living rooms are to literally die for. Amazing colours, sofas, chairs, rugs, wallpaper; you name it.
Boho sofas
I can’t imagine a bohemian living room without the perfect sofa which should be comfortable and colourful. You know, not the crisp, white leather sofa I’m talking about. I’m thinking about the one that you use a lot, the kids jump up and down on it. It “saw” you crying and laughing.
I’m a big fan of Moroccan style living rooms and they always have huge sofas in them. They have space for everyone and usually decorated with comfy, plush pillows. The traditional Moroccan couches use floral upholstery and wood trim.

Boho living room pillows
Throw pillows play an essential role when it comes to bohemian living room decor. They can be colourful, turquoise, blue, red, green or just plain white. Anything could be perfect for your living room as long as you like it. It’s really popular to buy throw pillows with tassels on. Definitely a Moroccan inspiration.
As Alexandra Stoddard designer once said:
Make every room a living room.
Rugs in the living room
To be honest I can’t imagine a boho living room without rugs. They make every room more comfortable and warmer (especially in wintertime). I know, I know, they do attract dust but you can always clean them. I have several rugs in my home, in different shapes and sizes. I can’t live without them (although I have a dust allergy.) What about you?
Curtains
I live in a Mediterranean country, so curtains are pretty essential. Especially in the summertime when it’s too hot. Boho curtains are of course colourful but you can go for the plainer option like Scandinavian boho style does.
Natural fabrics are much better in your boho living room because they let through the air and let your home breathe.
Wallpaper
Wallpaper is a kind of art form nowadays. When I was a kid, we only had those boring, plain coloured wallpapers but now we have so many beautiful patterns and designs. Some flowery and plant wallpapers look like just the real thing.

Plants in your living room
Plants are not only gorgeous but they make the air much cleaner in your living room and your home. I already wrote about which plants you should put in your bedroom, you can have the same ones in your living room too.
Plants just make any room in your home more beautiful plus studies have proven that they make us people more relaxed, it improves concentration and productivity too.

Boho bookshelf
I don’t know what about you but I love reading so a bookshelf is essential in our living room. Plus I have to put all our little travel “memories”, vases, Moroccan candle-holders, family pictures on it.
Wooden bookshelves go well with bohemian home decor. They come in different shapes and sizes, colours too. It’s a plus if they have a bit worn, vintage, rustic vibes.
Moroccan footstools and ottomans
If you want to be comfy completely you’ll need a footstool or an ottoman in your living room. They can be patterned or colourful. You can buy really nice handmade ones in Morocco. Ottoman making is an artform in Marrakesh. When we were on holiday there I saw plenty of very talented makers/artists.
At the end of a very tiring day, it’s a great feeling to put up your feet on this comfortable piece of furniture. It is usually made of leather but can be velvet too.

Boho lamps
We all need some beautiful ambient light in our living room. Handmade Moroccan lights can be the jewel of your boho home. They are usually made of tinted stained glass and rustic brass or wrought iron metalwork.
Proper interior lighting plays a very important role in our lives. It makes your boho home more comfortable and liveable. Natural light is really important too, of course, that’s why it’s important to have big windows in your home.
Wall art
Let’s not forget about bohemian wall art either. Wall art can be anything from boho wall baskets in different shapes and sizes to pictures, photos. One thing is for sure, you won’t see bare walls in a boho home.

I’m sure these tips help you to create and style the perfect boho living room. You don’t need much but you choose wisely when it comes to bohemian home decor. Try to go for quality furniture, sofa, pillow because they last longer.
Your living room should reflect your style and your taste, so it’s up to you how to decorate your home.
As Billy Baldwin once said:
Be faithful to your own taste, because nothing you really like is ever out of style.
