I’m really fascinated by boho home decor for a long time now. Its colours, shapes and vibes attract a lot of bohemian style lovers. I know my Instagram followers do, we are all big fan of boho style and boho home decor.
Boho home decor is a flexible, carefree, colourful and bold that is full of life, energy and very multicultural too. Morocco and Moroccan style inspired bohemian style in many different ways.
Let’s talk about the different elements that bring boho home decor to life.
Boho colours
The use of different colours is really important in boho style. You can pick any colour you want, the bolder, the better. There’s no rule to choose the perfect colour. Turquoise is definitely a favourite colour of boho home decor.

Turquoise is usually associated with energy, creativity, love and joy. That’s how I can describe boho style anyway. It’s full of energy but it’s very refreshing and feminine too. No wonder, why 91% of my Instagram followers are female 🙂
The warmer boho colours are ruby, saffron, magenta, pink and golden yellow. These are the colours of the Middle East too. The colder bohemian colours are jade, amethyst and, of course, the above-mentioned turquoise.
Not to forget about Scandinavian boho style either. It’s known for its black and white colours.
Boho furniture
Boho furniture is all about comfortable pieces. Then again, there is no rule on how to decorate your home with boho furniture. Use a lot of layers and textiles on your beds and sofas. The more colourful, the better. They make every furniture cosier, softer and more “hygge” (as the Danish say).

Use as many throw pillows on the floor and sofas as you want. Boho furniture is “just” furniture, not pieces of art. They are part of your everyday life. You can sit on them or lie on them comfortably. Scandinavian boho style mostly uses black and white furniture and they look fabulous too.
Boho rugs and carpets
Boho carpets and rugs are quintessential in any bohemian homes. You just need that extra plush feeling under your feet when you walk around bare feet. I don’t know what about you but I love doing it. It’s a marvellous feeling.

Boho rugs are usually really soft, colourful and have bold patterns. You can’t imagine a boho carpet without big flowers or geometrical patterns. I think Moroccan rugs and carpets belong to the boho world.
If you walk around in the souk in Marrakech, you will find plenty of places where you can buy amazing rugs and carpets in different shapes and sizes. They are not cheap but the quality is amazing.
Boho accessories
I can’t imagine boho home decor without colourful and bold accessories. Pom-poms, tassels, woven baskets, fluffy pillows, colourful bed throws and plush rugs everywhere come to my mind when I think about boho accessories.

Bohemian art is part of boho decor style too. Most of my Instagram friends who love this style, love art too. It plays an important part in a boho home. You just can’t see bare walls without any decoration and colourful art in a boho home or apartment.
As Alev Oguz said:
“Art is a journey of a free soul.”
When you look at the walls of a boho home, it is definitely a journey of a free soul.
Spiritual boho mandalas are very beautiful and you can decorate your bohemian home with them. They are colourful, those geometric patterns are really gorgeous and calming. There are so many and talented mandala artists in the world, you can buy their mandalas. (Let’s support small businesses!)
Boho plants
Bohemian souls usually love plants, small and big, we just can’t live without them. Not only they clean the air but also makes your boho living room, kitchen and bathroom prettier and more bohemian. We need plants in our homes because they make us happy. So let’s keep going and keep growing.

Boho lightning
When I think about a boho living room, I can’t imagine it without one or two delicately decorated Moroccan lamps. You need intimate, boho lights that give you that extra boho vibes in the evening.
Let’s not forget about candles either, I think you need some scented candles that will give you the ultimate boho experience. Candles are always known for their soothing and healing properties plus they can also improve your mood after a long and stressful day.
When you walk into a boho home, you always feel that is calmer and soother than homes with ultramodern, soulless (but trendy) furniture. Bohemian homes have souls that talk to you. You can just feel it once you walk into them.

Boho fragrance
Not only the visual experience but fragrances also belong to bohemian homes. The smell of Moroccan style incenses makes a boho home even more mystical and cosier.
What scents do usually belong to the boho world? Well, the most loved scents are sandalwood, orange blossom, cinnamon, rose, jasmine blossom, rosemary, mint. Boho fragrance is an absolutely magical scent that can take us to exotic places or reminds us of travels.

Boho backyard or balcony
Not only the interior but the exterior can have boho vibes too. Boho backyards, decks, patios and balconies play an important part in the summer when the heat is gone and you can sit outside and enjoy the cooler weather in the evening.
Let’s not forget about throw pillows, candles, smaller rugs, comfy chairs when it comes to boho patios, backyards, gardens and balconies (if you live in an apartment).
Size doesn’t matter because you can create magical boho vibes in a small place too. I saw plenty of beautiful small boho patios on Instagram, so you can create your own magical place basically anywhere.

Boho home decor is so complex with its rugs, pillows, woven baskets, Moroccan lamps and lamps. It takes time, of course, to create the perfect boho vibes and bohemian look in your home. As my favourite interior – Justina Blakeney said:
“Fun is often forgotten in interior design.”
So let’s not forget about it. Let’s make it fun, let’s take our time and enjoy this beautiful, boho journey.
Love, ❤️
